Monday, March 10, 2014

Who loves Chinese food? If you are one of them, so we can be friends.. LOL. Anyway, since I moved and currently stay far from my beloved country, I need to cook by myself, but sometimes I kinda miss the food made by my sister, she did very well and I really miss some of the Chinese Restaurant that I usually went when I was hungry. So, I tried to make my own Shrimp Oyster Sauce, which happened to be one of my favorite food. First time for me? Not really, but I never do this before, I asked my sister and she told me a little information of how to cook it. I thought it was not easy and damn I was right! I have tried to make a tester and it was failed before, because it's too salty. But today, I nailed it! Taste it and REALLY WELL, I cooked for myself and my roommate (4 person), I asked them to try and they told me it was really GOOD! I believe that everyone can do this, the recipe and ingredients are simple, I bet you have all the ingredients in your kitchen..

Here's the recipe and how to cook:

INGREDIENTS:

1. 1/2 kg good quality shrimps

2. 3 cloves shallots, sliced thinly first

3. 2 cloves garlic, sliced thinly first

4. 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
5. 1/2 cloves onion, sliced thinly first
6. 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
7. 2 tablespoons of butter
8. 3 tablespoons soy sauce (any brand)
9. Seasoning to add the taste
10. Salt (depends on your liking)
11. 2 tablespoons honey
12. Cooking oil / olive oil
*If you like paprika, then you can put in too.

HOW TO COOK:

1. Make sure your shrimps are all clean. Cut the head first, but do not peeled. Rinse and put aside,

Note: soak the shrimps with lemon water and add salt to add the taste, wait for 15 minutes to eliminate the fishy smell and the salt can blend with the shrimp, it makes more tasty.

2. Ground the shallots and garlic together using a blender or you can cut them thinly.

3. Prepare a wok. Add some oil, butter, saute onion and spice paste, until it all blend and smells good.
4. Add the shrimps, cook until the shrimps turn to be red.
5. Give the soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt, sugar and seasoning, and mix well.
6. Give the lemon water.
7. Fry until cooked well.

Quite easy, right? I add some honey to make it glaze and it turns out to be delicious as well. Happy cooking and let me know how you like it!
